A biographical register of 3,000 officers of the civil and military branches of American intelligence agencies who have operated in 120 countries. Actually, “CIA” in the title is misleading, since the compilation includes names and biographies of present and former officers of all the intelligence agencies of the United States. Many of the former OSS (Office of Strategic Services) personnel listed eventually found their way after World War II into postwar intelligence, especially the CIA. However, many of the foreign service and other officers listed have not been connected with intelligence for years. The biographical sketches include date and place of birth, past military or intelligence affiliations, education, languages, and present operating areas (as of 1968).
