The author, himself an intelligence officer in Germany for five post-World War II years, researched original source material to assist in describing the intelligence attack on German V-1 and V-2 missile activity. That intelligence made possible Anglo-American countermeasure operations against research, test, manufacture, and field launch sites and transport networks (Operation CROSSBOW). He also describes operation OVERCAST, which was a top secret “battle-for-the-brains” project for locating German missile specialists, and other scientists and engineers, and bringing them to the United States one jump ahead of the Red Army.
